In 1934, Maurice Johnston, an Old Campbellian and member of Royal Belfast Golf Club, instigated a golf tournament which would bring together former pupils of Ulster Grammar Schools to compete for a coveted shield.
Campbell College were the inaugural winners and other alumni associations and societies who have participated in the competition throughout the years include; Ballymena Academy, Belfast Royal Academy, Coleraine Inst, Bangor Grammar, Methodist College, Royal School Dungannon, Foyle College and Sullivan.
While there have been periods of time, since the tournament's inception, when it has not been played (most recently due to Covid), the 2022 edition took place on Friday 13th May at the usual venue of Royal Belfast Golf Club with the Sullivan team claiming victory.
Congratulations to the team which was captained by John Leckey (Class of 1989) and featured Richard Gilliland (Class of 1979), James McCombe (Class of 1996), Michael McCombe (Class of 1997) and Rob Connolly (Class of 1997).
