Cllr Michael Long installed as Lord Mayor of Belfast

Sullivan alum Michael Long has become Lord Mayor of Belfast for 3 weeks.

Congratulations to Sullivan alum Councillor Michael Long (Class of 1989) who has replaced newly elected MLA Kate Nicholl as Lord Mayor of Belfast.

While Kate Nicholl's term of office as Lord Mayor of Belfast doesn't end until 1st June, she is prevented from retaining her council seat under rules banning assembly members from sitting as councillors.

Michael, who is a former High Sheriff of Belfast and combines his council duties with work as a dentist in Donaghadee, was installed as Lord Mayor on Monday evening, 9th May. His wife Naomi, leader of the Alliance Party, was previously Lord Mayor in 2009
