Dr Laurence Gray has been honoured for his contributions to radar technology and polar science as a researcher, scientist and educator.
The Order of Canada is one of the country’s highest awards which recognises people across all sectors of society who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to the nation.
Laurence joined the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing in 1974 and helped pioneer the radar imaging technology used to measure changes in polar sea ice. Today he is an adjunct professor at the University of Ottowa Department of Geography, Environment, and Geomatics.
You can listen to Dr Gray talk about his work and his award (and still hear a hint of a Northern Irish accent) in this short piece of audio from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
