As a proud member of the Sullivan Class of 2008, it is incredibly special to now be working with the alumni community of a school that means so much to me.
Within the committee, I look after all communications and marketing, as well as assisting with the organisation of our events throughout the year — from galas and reunions to golf days and everything in between. It is a varied and rewarding role that keeps me closely connected to both our past pupils and the wider school community.
One of my favourite tasks — and one I am very much looking forward to organising again this year — is the Sullivan Upper School Careers Fair. Last year’s event was a wonderful day for our students. It brought together an inspiring group of alumni and professionals from a wide range of industries, all willing to share their experience, advice and encouragement. The Careers Fair provided students with invaluable insight into potential career paths, access to real-world guidance, networking opportunities, and the chance to ask honest questions in a supportive environment. It was fantastic to see our alumni giving back in such a meaningful way, and to witness the confidence it gave our pupils as they consider their next steps beyond school.
My own time at Sullivan was incredibly happy. I thoroughly enjoyed my school years and made memories and friendships that have lasted a lifetime. My favourite subjects were History, English Literature and Art — subjects that allowed creativity and expression to flourish, and which were supported by inspiring teachers who encouraged us to aim high.
I am now also a proud Sullivan parent, as my eldest daughter has followed in my footsteps and attends the school. Since joining the committee, I have been reminded time and again what a truly wonderful school Sullivan is — not only because of its academic excellence, but because of the support, opportunities and strong sense of community it provides. I am delighted to be connected once again, both through my work and as a parent.
The Alumni Association is working hard to build something we can all be proud of. We have a strong and dedicated committee focused on developing a thriving alumni network — one that keeps past pupils connected to the school and supports our students during their time at Sullivan and long after they leave.
We would encourage all past pupils to consider taking out a lifetime membership to help support the work we do. Keeping your contact details up to date, volunteering your time — whether through careers interviews, offering guidance, attending the Careers Fair, helping at events, or simply getting in touch with ideas — all makes a real difference.
Sullivan is a very special school with a wonderful and supportive alumni community. We are excited about the projects and events ahead and cannot wait to share more in the months to come.
