Gareth Grundie named as Ireland Women's Hockey Head Coach

Former pupil Gareth Grundie has been appointed as the new head coach of the Ireland women's hockey team.

Gareth (Class of 1997) takes up the position having previously held the role of interim Head Coach in 2019 and been involved in Hockey Ireland's Junior Age Group Programme. 

 

 

He will begin his role on 1 November and will lead Ireland through a busy 2025 schedule which includes the FIH Nations Cup in Chile in February and the EuroHockey Championships in Germany in August.

Gareth brings over 25 years of coaching experience to the role and proven experience of building and delivering performance. Most recently he was Head Coach of the  Czech Republic Senior Women’s team that picked up a silver medal at the 2023 European Championships II, a bronze medal at the Indoor World Cup in South Africa and secured a place at the Olympic Qualifiers for Paris 2024.
