Sullivan alumni in action at the Paris Olympics

Michael Robson (Class of 2015) has been slected for the Irish Men's Hockey Team.

Michael plays his club hockey for Annadale and has been involved with the Irish Squad since his debut in 2014. He has well over 150 international caps.

Having narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, the men’s team last competed at the Rio Olympics where Robson travelled as a reserve. They earned their spot in this year's Olympics by beating Korea 4-3 in the third/fourth place play-off at the final qualifying event in Valencia in January.

Competition for the hockey runs from the 27 July to the 9 August 2024. Ireland compete in Pool B where they face Belgium, India, Australia, Argentina and New Zealand. Their first match will be against Belgium on the 27 July. 

Rachel McCann (Class of 2020) is part of the Team Ireland athletic squad in both the mixed and womens 4 x400m relay. Like many Sullivan pupils, Rachel honed her athletics skills at North Down Athletics Club in Bangor. Here she is pictured at the Irish University indoor championship which she won representing QUB.

Rory McIlroy (Class of 2005) will represent Sullivan (and Ireland) on the golf course.

Golf in the Olympics is an individual event and the men’s tournament will take place from August 1st to 4th. McIlroy finished fourth in Tokyo and will be one of the favourites to win a medal in Paris.
